Vedic Tricks Made Mathematics Easy
Vedic mathematics, rooted in ancient Indian scriptures called the Vedas, offers a plethora of mental math techniques designed to simplify and accelerate speed calculations. The maths encompass various aspects of arithmetic, including multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction and much more.
Vedic mathematics emphasizes simplicity and intuition, providing practitioners with versatile tools to enhance their computational skills and mental agility. Through regular practice and application of these ancient tricks, individuals can improve their numerical fluency and problem-solving abilities.

Magic Tricks to Multiply any Number by 11
Example-1 Find the multiplications 35 x 11
Simple Vedic Trick
Write given number like this :
= 3 5
Find out sum of two digits= (3+5) = 8
Write down the result in middle= 3 8 5 Ans.
So, we have 35 x 11 = 3 8 5.
Exercise
Multiplication numbers using above tricks
1) 73 x 11
2) 86 x 11
3) 53 x 11
Special Tricks of Multiplying by Number 9, 99, 999, 9999….and so on.
Case-(I): If both number have the same no. of digits
Example- Find the multiplications 356 × 999
Simple Trick
Subtract 1 from 356 (Vedic Sutra Eknunena Purvena)
i.e. (356 – 1)= 355 (this is first part of answer)
Now, from Vedic Sutra “Nikhilam Navatashcaramam Dashatah, which means “All from 9 and the last from 10″ (i.e. subtract all digits of 356 from 9 and last digit from 10) :
(9 – 3) = 6
(9 – 5) = 4
(10 – 6) = 4
We have, 644 (this is second part of the answer)
So, the multiplication of 356 × 999 = 355 644 Ans.
Case-(II): If the given number have more digits than the 9 digits
Example- Find the multiplications 342 x 99
Simple Mental Steps
Divide given number into two parts, the second part has the same digits as of 9’s.
i.e. We can divide given number 342 like this –
3 42
Add ‘1‘ to the first part (3+1) = 4
Now, subtract this number from given number (342 – 4) = 338 (this is first part of Ans.)
Now, apply the Vedic Sutra “All from 9 and last from 10” (to find the complement):
(9 – 4) = 5
(10 – 2) = 8
Here, 58 is second part of the Ans.
Therefore, we can have, 342 x 99 = 338 58 Ans.
Case-(III): If the given number have less digits than the 9 digits
Example- Find the multiplications 32 x 999
In this case first of all we make the digit equal, by placing zero before the give number
032 x 999
Use vedic sutra “Eknunena Purvena”, which means “One less than the One before”
We have (032 – 1) = 31 (this is first part of answer)
Now, find the complement
By vedic sutra “Nikhilam” (i.e. All from 9 and Last from 10)
We have
9 9 10
– 0 3 2
9 6 8 (this is second part of answer)
So, we have 32 x 999 = 31 968 Ans.
Multiply numbers using above tricks
1) 658 x 999
2) 785 x 999
3) 778 x 999
4) 847 x 99
5) 794 x 99
6) 582 x 99
Short Trick For Squaring Number, Ending with 5
Example-1 Find out the square of (25)2
Simple mental steps:
Use vedic sutra Ekadhikena Purvena, which means “One more than the One before“
i.e. Multiply 2 by (2 + 1)
2 x 3 = 6 (This is first part of answer)
Now, place, 25 after first part of the answer
Thus we have, square root of (25) is equal to 6 25 Ans.
Example-2 Find out the square of (75)2
Simple mental steps:
Use vedic sutra Ekadhikena Purvena, which means “One more than the One before“
i.e. Multiply 7 by (7 + 1)
7 x 8 = 56 (This is first part of answer)
Now, place, 25 after first part of the answer
Thus we have, square root of (25) is equal to 56 25 Ans.
Example-3 Find out the square of (85)2
Simple mental steps:
Use vedic sutra Ekadhikena Purvena, which means “One more than the One before“
i.e. Multiply 8 by (8 + 1)
8 x 9 = 72 (This is first part of answer)
Now, place, 25 after first part of the answer
Thus we have, square root of (25) is equal to 72 25 Ans.
